How does the Mass schedule calendar work?

The Mass schedule calendar allows you to add Holy Mass times directly to your personal calendar. Select the location you are interested in and then use the appropriate link either to subscribe to the calendar or to download it. Each location has its own calendar, while the “All Locations” calendar combines the Mass schedules of all churches belonging to the parish into a single calendar.

How do the calendars for individual locations differ?

The calendars for Balog nad Ipľom, Sečianky and Klenany contain only the Holy Mass times for the respective location. The “All Locations” calendar, by contrast, brings together the Mass schedules of all locations served by the parish in one calendar. This is the most convenient option when you want to see all Holy Mass times in one place.

Subscribing creates an internet calendar subscription. The Mass schedule for the selected location, or for all locations, is then displayed in your own calendar application, where later changes can also be reflected. This option is primarily intended for calendar applications that support subscriptions to internet calendars.

This option copies the web address of the selected .ics Mass schedule calendar to your clipboard. You can then enter the copied URL into a calendar application or service that supports subscriptions to internet calendars. This means that you do not have to update the calendar manually every time the schedule changes.

Do not open the URL in your web browser as an ordinary web page. Instead, paste it into the appropriate field of the calendar service where internet or subscribed calendars can be added.

How can the calendar be used on a mobile phone?

On iPhone and iPad, the .ics calendar can be added to Apple Calendar as a subscribed calendar. You can start the process directly by selecting “Subscribe”, or you can copy the calendar URL and enter it manually in the calendar settings.

On Android devices, .ics calendar subscriptions are not supported at system level. For this reason, the method described above cannot be used on Android in the same way as on an iPhone.

How can the calendar be used on a computer?

On a desktop computer, the .ics calendar can be used with many commonly used calendar applications and services. An internet calendar can be added to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook using its URL.

In Google Calendar, you can subscribe to an internet calendar using the copied .ics URL. Google provides a dedicated option for this when adding a calendar: Add a calendar by URL in Google Calendar.

Apple Calendar also allows you to subscribe to an internet calendar using its URL. Outlook and other applications that support internet calendars may likewise allow you to add the calendar using its .ics URL.

The exact menu options and their names may vary between applications. In general, look for an option such as adding an internet calendar, subscribing to a calendar, or adding a calendar by URL.

The copied URL should not be opened in a web browser as an ordinary web page. It should be pasted into the appropriate field of the calendar application you are using.

What is the difference between subscribing and downloading?

A subscription connects your calendar to an internet calendar. The calendar content can be updated later, making this the preferred option when you want the Mass schedule to remain up to date.

Downloading the .ics file, on the other hand, means that a file is saved to your computer or device. You can then import it into a compatible calendar application. When you want to keep track of changes to the Mass schedule automatically, a subscription is the appropriate solution.

What happens when the Mass schedule changes?

A subscribed calendar for a particular location may receive new or modified Mass times when the calendar service performs its next update. The advantage of subscribing is that you do not need to download a new .ics file after every change.

The exact update time depends on how frequently the calendar application you use checks the subscribed calendar.

Which calendar should I choose?

When you mainly want to follow the Holy Mass schedule in Balog nad Ipľom, Sečianky or Klenany, choose the calendar for the relevant location. When you want to view the Mass schedules for several locations in a single calendar, choose All Locations.
